Light Activated Motor Controller using IC 555
₹280.00
In StockA Light Activated Motor Controller using IC 555 is a simple electronic circuit that turns a motor ON or OFF based on the presence or absence of light. It uses a LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) as a light sensor and the 555 timer IC in a comparator mode, along with an LED to indicate the motor’s status.
Description
This project demonstrates how to control a DC motor automatically using light. It uses the 555 timer IC configured in monostable or comparator mode to detect changes in light intensity through an LDR (Light Dependent Resistor). When light falls on the LDR (or is removed, depending on the configuration), the circuit switches the motor ON or OFF. An LED indicator is used to show the motor’s operational state (ON/OFF).
This type of circuit is useful in automatic solar trackers, light-following robots, daylight-based ventilation systems, or smart irrigation where motors or fans need to be controlled based on ambient light.
Applications:
1.Solar-powered Systems
1.Turn on fans or pumps during daylight.
2.Light-following Robots
1.Control wheels or actuators based on light direction.
3.Automatic Window Ventilation
1.Open/close windows using motors when sunlight is detected.
4.Smart Irrigation
1.Start motors for water pumps when sunlight is available.
5.Educational Projects
1.Demonstrates sensor-based automation using the 555 timer.

This project involves controlling a DC motor’s direction using an 8051 microcontroller, with a buzzer and LED indicating the motor’s rotation state. When the DC motor rotates forward, the microcontroller keeps the buzzer and LED off. However, when the motor is rotated in reverse, the microcontroller triggers both the buzzer and LED to turn on as a visual and audible indication of the motor’s reverse rotation

An OR gate using transistors is a basic logic circuit built using NPN transistors that performs the logical OR function. It gives a high output when at least one input is high. This is a fundamental building block in digital electronics and can be implemented using discrete components like transistors and resistors.

An AND gate can be built using BC547 NPN transistors, a common general-purpose transistor used in digital circuits.
The circuit represents both the inputs A & B for the AND gate and Output, Q, which also has a +5V supply to the collector of the first transistor, which is connected in series to the second transistor, and an LED is connected to the emitter terminal of the second transistor. The inputs A & B are connected to the base terminal of Transistor 1 and Transistor 2, respectively, and the output Q goes to the positive terminal LED.
